Bio

I’m one of the founders of Massive, which is developing an alternative to ads and paywalls for making money and paying online and was motivated by my frustrations as an app developer (and internet user) over most of the last decade.

In that time, I created 7 independent apps – for iOS, Android, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera – that’ve topped 1,000,000 active users and another 14 that’ve topped 10,000. Altogether, my apps have been installed more than 20,000,000 times, been rated an average of more than 4.5 out of 5 stars by users, and been featured more than 1,000 times by the press and by platform vendors – including in Forbes, on 60 Minutes, and by Apple, by Google, by Mozilla, and by Opera. I’ve had, among them, an app named one of the 100 best innovations by Popular Science, one of the 20 best Chrome extensions and 20 best Firefox add-ons by Lifehacker, the best privacy and security innovation and a finalist for the best privacy and security innovation at South by Southwest, the best technology at Launch, and an honoree for the best experimental mobile site or app at The Webbys.

I’ve also spoken about privacy and security at Defcon, about app development at Google I/O and at 3 Developer Days, and about Disconnect at Launch and my research has been published by The Wall Street Journal and by CNN.

Previously, I was a Google engineer – I worked on AdWords, AdSense, Checkout, Wave, then Chrome and helped start the company’s sales-engineering and developer-relations teams.
